River Island store opens in Coventry

Congratulations to River Island for the long awaited opening of their new 12,000 sq ft flagship store in Lower Precinct, Coventry. With a combination of the former Select and Clarks on the upper gallery close to H&M and Next, the two units have been combined and reconfigured to provide Ground and First Floor trading space offering a full range of Men’s, Ladies and Kid’s clothing.

This letting consolidates Lower Precinct as the prime shopping pitch in the city where other occupiers include H&M, Next, New Look, Pandora, Lush and The Entertainer. The centre totals approximately 225,000 sq ft of space in an attractive covered setting. Lower Precinct had a pre-covid weekly footfall of around 200,000 and the scheme benefits from consistent footfall delivery generated from the 540 space multi-storey car park.

Coventry is City of Culture for 2021 with a number of exciting events planned for the Summer and Autumn this year.

Andrew Shepherd, Director at AS Retail who conducted the negotiations on behalf of the landlord commented “We are absolutely delighted to welcome River Island to Lower Precinct Shopping Centre and to satisfy their long-standing relocation requirement. It has been a superb effort from the teams on both sides of the negotiation to conclude this deal considering the circumstances over the last twelve months and we are confident that the new flagship store will complement the fantastic tenant mix we already boast at Lower Precinct, putting us on the front foot as restrictions ease further over the next few months. We have other opportunities available for retail, catering, leisure or alternative uses ranging from standard shop units to large floor plates so please contact myself or my joint agents, Wright Silverwood and Space, to discuss availability.”

Knight Frank represented River Island in the transaction.
